Before the final series of the regular season began, a playoff spot was hanging just above the Quakes' heads, Matt Kemp had just started a rehab assignment, and the top team in the California League was coming to Rancho. By the end of the series, the Quakes had a spot in the playoffs, Matt Kemp was finishing up his rehab assignment, and the Quakes had taken 2 of 4 from the JetHawks. I can't forget to mention that 3 of the 4 games also went into extra innings, but since they were pitcher's duels, they went by fairly quickly, two even ending under the 3 hour mark.
The Quakes and JetHawks split this series, but the JetHawks took the season series, winning 16 and losing 9. The JetHawks outscored the Quakes, 15-9, as well as outhit them, 32-24.
Lancaster's Batting
Second baseman, Delino DeShields went 6-15 with 2 triples and a home run. Designate hitter/center fielder, Andrew Aplin went 4-17 with a double. First baseman, MP Cokinos went 6-18 with a double. Third baseman, Joe Sclafani went 2-16 with a double. Center fielder/left fielder, Brandon Meredith went 4-16 with a double and a home run. Right fielder, Chris Epps went 3-11 with 3 home runs.
Rancho Cucamonga's Batting
Left fielder/center fielder/right fielder, Noel Cuevas went 2-11 with a double. Second baseman, Darnell Sweeney went 2-13 with a triple. First baseman, Chris Jacobs went 1-8 with a home run. Catcher, Pratt Maynard went 3-9 with a double. Third baseman/second baseman, Scott Wingo went 3-13 with a home run. Left fielder/pinch hitter/designated hitter, Bobby Coyle Jr. went 5-11 with a double, a triple, and a walk-off double. Catcher, Chris O'Brien went 1-4 with a walk-off single.

JetHawks' Pitching
Game 1 starter, Brady Rodgers went 6 strong innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits. Game 1 winner, Kenny Long allowed 1 hit over 2 innings. Game 2 starter, Colton Cain allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 5 hits over 7 innings. Game 3 starter, Vincent Velasquez allowed 1 run on 2 hits over 6 innings. Kenny Long allowed 2 hits over 1.1 innings in game 3. Game 4 winner, Aaron West allowed just 2 hits over 5 innings of work, carrying a no-no into the 5th inning. Tyson Perez came into relieve West and threw 2.1 hitless innings.
Quakes' Pitching
Game 1 starter, Jon Michael Redding went 6.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Edwin Carl followed Redding and allowed 1 hit over 1.1 innings. Craig Stem followed Carl, going 2 innings and allowing 1 hit. Game 2 starter, Matt Shelton allowed 3 runs on 6 hit as over 5.2 innings of work. Dan Coulombe followed with 1.1 hitless innings. Raydel Sanchez threw a hitless inning and Eric Eadington finished things up by allowing 1 hit over 2 innings to earn the win. Game 3 starter, Lindsey Caughel allowed 1 run on 5 hits over 7 strong innings. Edwin Carl threw 2 hitless to help preserve Caughel's nice start. Craig Stem ended up with the win though after allowing 1 hit over 1 inning.
Roster Moves
RHP, Arismendy Ozoria has been sent to the Great Lakes Loons. RHP, Gustavo Gomez has been placed on the disabled list. RHP, Francisco Villa has been added to the roster from the Ogden Raptors.
Upcoming Games
The Quakes have a game on Wednesday, 9/4 against the Inland Empire 66ers at LoanMart Field to start the playoffs. On Thursday, 9/5 they have a game in San Bernardino. If a 3rd game is needed, it would take place in San Bernardino on Friday, 9/6.
