Quakes Swept by 66ers

This article is a day late. Sorry for any confusion. I was traveling and couldn't fit this in.


The Quakes were swept by the Inland Empire 66ers in a three game series in San Bernardino this week. They have yet to win a game in the second half of the 2013 season as they were also swept by the JetHawks in the first series of the second half. The 66ers managd to outhit the Quakes, 26-20, as well as out score them, 14-7. 

Quakes Batting

Left fielder/right fielder, Scott Schebler went 4-11 with a double. Shortstop, Darnell Sweeney went 2-12 with a double. Right fielder/center fielder/Quakes home run leader, Jonathan Garcia went 2-11 with his 17th long ball of the year. Dodgers utility man, Scott Van Slyke went 1-4 with a single to start off his rehab assignment with the Quakes.

66ers Batting

Outfielder, Brennan Gowens went 2-10 with a triple. Second baseman, Alex Yarbrough went 5-11 with a double. First baseman, Michael Snyder went 4-13 with a double and a home run. Third baseman, Brian Hernandez went 5-10 with a triple. Catcher, Zach Wright went 1-6 with a double. Right fielder/designated hitter, Gary Mitchell went 3-8 with a triple. Center fielder, Andy Workman went 2-6 with a double.

Rancho's Pitching

Relief pitcher, Raydel Sanchez threw 2.2 scoreless innings in game 1 while giving up only 2 hits. Pedro Baez went 1.2 innings in game 2 and gave up 1 unearned run on 2 hits. Bullpen newcomer, Jarret Martin threw a hitless inning in game 2. Angel Sanchez went 3+ innings in relief in game 3 and allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 2 hits with 6 strikeouts. Matt Shelton went 1.1 innings and allowed just 1 hit in game 3.

Inland Empire's Pitching 

Eric Cendejas earned the game 1 win after throwing 2 hitless innings. He earned the game 3 win after going 1 inning and allowing 1 run on one hit. Mike Morin earned the save in game 1 after pitching a hitless inning. He also earned the game 2 save after going .2 innings without allowing a hit. Starter, Orangel Arenas earned the game 2 win after going 7 strong innings and only giving up one run on 4 hits. Eduard Santos went 1.1 innings while allowing only 1 hit. Ty Kelley pitched 2 scoreless innings and gave up 2 hits. R.J. Alvarez gave up 1 hit in 2 innings pitched.

Roster Moves

LHP, Jarret Martin has been moved to the bullpen. RHP, Angel Sanchez has been added to the roster from the Great Lake Loons.  Dodgers outfielder, Scott Van Slyke has been added to the roster to finish up a rehab assignment for neck and shoulder pain. RHP, Lindsey Caughel was placed on the DL because of a blister on his foot. RHP, Jon Michael Redding will be starting for Caughel. 

Upcoming Games 

The Quakes will play the JetHawks in a 4 game series (6/27-6/30)  at Loan Mart Field in Rancho Cucamonga. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday, Friday is Dollar Family Feast night, Saturday is firework night, and Sunday is our first Photo Series giveaway.
