Storm Sweep Quakes in Final Meeting in 1st Half

The Quakes and the Lake Elsinore Storm met up for their final series in the first half of the California League 2013 season. The Quakes were swept in Lake Elsinore as there seemed to be a lack of hitting early in the games. The Quakes managed to get there bats going in the later innings, but unfortunately couldn't rally back in time. They were out hit 33-22 and out scored 23-10. The Quakes do have a season series advantage over the Storm though with a record of 10-7. 

Quakes Batting

Center fielder/left fielder, Noel Cuevas went 3-12 with a double and a triple. First baseman, O'Koyea Dickson went 4-12 with 2 doubles. Right fielder, Jon Garcia went 2-7 with a double and a home run. Left fielder, Devin Shines went 1-7 with a double. Catcher, Webster Rivas went 4-9 to post a series batting average of .444. Third baseman, Bladimir Franco went 2-8 with a triple. Right fielder, Scott Schebler went 1-4 with a double. 

Storms Batting

Center fielder, Travis Jankowski went 7-12 with 2 doubles. Second baseman, B.J. Guinn went 6-12 with 2 doubles and a triple. Shortstop, Jace Peterson went 5-10 with 2 triples. First baseman, Robert Kral went 6-10 with a double and a triple. Catcher, Austin Hedges went 4-7 with 2 doubles and a home run. Third baseman, Duanel Jones went 1-11 with a home run. Left fielder, Ronnie Richardson went 2-12 with a double and a home run. Catcher, Jeremy Rodriguez went 1-4 with a double.

Rancho's Pitching

Relief pitcher, Daniel Coulombe went 2 hit less innings in game 1. Matt Shelton went 1 inning in game 2 and allowed 1 hit. Joel Lima allowed 2 unearned runs and 1 hit in the 1 inning he pitched in game 3. Pedro Baez and Eric Eadington both allowed 1 hit in their 1 inning they pitched in game 3.

Lake Elsinore's Pitching

Relief pitcher, Brandon Alger got the game 1 win after going 3 innings and allowing 3 hits. Dan Cortes went an inning in game 2 and did not allow a hit. Cody Hebner earned the game 2 win after going 2 innings without allowing a hit. Johnny Barbato earned the game 2 save after throwing a hit less inning. Padres pitcher, Houston Street started game 3 and went 1 inning and did not allow a hit. Matt Jackson earned the game 3 win after going 6 innings and allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. John Hussey went 2 innings and game 3 and allowed just 2 hits over 2 innings of work. 

Roster Moves

3B, Pedro Guerrero has been promoted to double A Chattanooga. 
Dodgers catcher, A.J. Ellis is currently on the roster doing rehab work for a strained oblique. He might continue his rehab assignment Thursday night at LoanMart Field.
3B, Bladimir Franco has been promoted to the Quakes to replace Guerrero and fill in for injured 3B, Ryan Mount. 

Upcoming Games

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field for a four game series against the Stockton Ports before the all-star break begins. Thursday, 6/13, is Thirsty Thursday. Friday, 6/14, is Mike Trout Bobble-head night [First 1,500 fans, one per person per ticket]. Saturday, 6/15, is firework night. Sunday, 6/16, is Father's Day and baseball card giveaway.
