Mavs Win Rubber Game, Quakes Drop Series

The High Desert Mavericks, High A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, came to Rancho this week to face the Quakes for the 5th time this season, with 2 more series' to follow in the last few weeks of the 2013 regular season. The Mavericks have the season series thus far, winning the first, splitting the second, winning the third, losing the fourth, and winning the 5th, giving them a record of 10-7 against the Quakes. In this series, they managed to outscore the Quakes 17-8, as well as outhit them, 26-21.

Mavericks' Batting

Right fielder, Kevin Rivers went 5-13 with 2 doubles and a home run. Third baseman, Patrick Kivlehan went 3-12 with a double and a home run. First baseman, Steven Proscia went 3-12 with a double and a home run. Designated hitter/center fielder, Patrick Brady went 1-8 with a double. Left fielder, Jabari Henry went 2-10 with a double. Designated hitter, Dillon Hazlett went 3-8 with 2 doubles.

Quakes' Batting

Right fielder, Scott Schebler went 3-12 with a double. Second baseman, Darnell Sweeney went 3-11 with a triple. First baseman, Chris Jacobs went 3-11 with a double. Center fielder/left fielder, Noel Cuevas went 2-10 with a double. Shortstop, Corey Seager went 2-11 with a triple and a home run. Catcher, Chris O'Brien went 1-3 with a double. Catcher, John Cannon went 2-4 with a double.

High Desert's Pitching

Starter, Stephen Landazuri got the game 1 win after going 6.2 innings and allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Relief pitcher, Seon Gi Kim went 1.1 innings without allowing a hit. Bobby Shore followed suit, not allowing a hit over 1 inning. In game 2, Andrew Kittredge allowed 1 hit over 1.1 innings. Jordan Shipers earned the game 3 win after going 6 innings and allowing 1 run on 5 hits. Matt Brazis allowed 1 hit over 1.1 innings while Grady Wood didn't allow a hit over .2 innings. Mayckol Guaipe earned the save after going an inning and allowing 1 hit.

Rancho's Pitching

Raydel Sanchez pitched 1 inning in game 1 and didn't give up a hit, as did fellow bullpen man, Joel Lima. In game 2, Edwin Carl allowed 1 hit over .2 innings. Dodger pitcher and 2011 Quake, Shawn Tolleson earned the game 2 win after going 1 inning and giving up 1 run on 1 hit. Craig Stem earned the save after throwing a hitless inning. In game 3, Eric Eadington allowed 2 hits over 2.2 innings. Matt Shelton went 1.1 innings and didn't give up a hit. Joel Lima gave up 1 hit over 1 inning.

Roster Moves

Outfileder, Bobby Coyle was placed on the disabled list as well as third baseman, Ryan Mount. Catcher, John Cannon and first baseman, O'Koyea Dickson were both activated from the disabled list. Dodger pitcher, Shawn Tolleson was added to the roster to complete a rehab assignment.

Upcoming Games

The Quakes play 3 against the Lake Elsinore Storm (8/16-8/18) at LoanMart Field. Friday's game includes an Adrian Bobblehead giveaway to the FIRST 1,500 FANS. Saturday is First Responders night as well as fireworks night. Sunday is the final photo in the Photo Series.
