66ers Take 2 of 3 from Quakes

In the fifth meeting of the season between the 66ers and the Quakes, the 66ers again took ahold of the series reins and walked away with 2 wins of a possible 3. Inland Empire tallied up 25 hits, just one more than the Quakes. The 66ers also out scored the Quakes, 14-11. 

Inland Empire's Batting 

Right fielder/left fielder, Brennan Gowens went 2-13 with 2 doubles. Second baseman, Alex Yarbrough went 4-14 with 2 doubles. Catcher, Abel Baker went 4-12 with a home run. Center fielder, Andy Workman went 2-10 with a double and a home run. Designated hitter/right fielder, Gary Mitchell went 1-10 with a home run. Catcher, Zach Wright went 1-4 with a double. 

Rancho Cucamonga's Batting 

Dodger outfielder, Carl Crawford put up some good numbers in this series, going 3-10 with a double and at least one hit in each game he played in. Right fielder, Scott Schebler went 3-11 with a double and a home run. The home run tied a game, in the bottom of the 10th, which Rancho would go on to win. Shortstop, Darnell Sweeney went 5-13 with a double. Catcher, Pratt Maynard went 1-7 with a walk off single to win the game I mentioned earlier. Third baseman, Bladimir Franco went 4-11 with a double. Second baseman, Scott Wingo went 1-3 with a double. Center fielder, Noel Cuevas went 3-8 with a double and a home run.

66ers's Pitching 

Starter, Dan Reynolds got the game 1 win after allowing 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings. Carmine Giardina went 1.1 scoreless innings and allowed 2 hits in game 1. RJ Alvarez earned the game 2 save after going 1.1 innings and allowing 1 run on 1 hit. Eswarlin Jimenez and Ty Kelley both went 2 innings in game 2. Jimenez didn't allow a hit. Kelley allowed 1. Starter and game 3 winner, Mark Sappington went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. Game 3 save credit goes to Eric Cendejas after going 2 innings and allowing 1 hit. 

Quakes's Pitching 

Former outfielder, Blake Smith made his pitching debut in game 1, throwing 1 inning of relief and allowing 2 hits. Freddie Cabrera threw 2 hitless innings in game 1 and Jarret Martin threw 1 hitless inning. Daniel Coulombe threw a total of 2 hitless innings between game 2 and game 3. Eric Eadington earned the game 2 win after going 2 innings and allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. 

Roster Moves

Pitcher, Garrett Gould has been promoted to AA. Outfielder, Bobby Coyle is back with the Quakes. Second baseman, Scott Wingo has been sent to the AZL Dodgers. Taking his place on the roster is 2013 draftee, James McDonald. Pitcher, Matt Shelton has been placed back on the Quakes roster from the Loons. 

Upcoming Games

The Quakes have a three game set in Adelanto against the Mavericks and then play another three game set against the 66ers. They return home to play the Mavericks on the 10th.
