Quakes Take 2 of 3 to Win 4th Straight Series

The Quakes and Ports faced off for the final time this season, with the Quakes walking away with the series win. The Ports, however, walked away with the season series record, winning 6 and losing 4. The Quakes are managing to get back on track from a rough start to the second half. After losing 7 straight to the start the 2nd half, they've managed to split a series with Lancaster, one of the most talented teams in the Cal League, and sweep Bakersfield, a team that gave the Quakes some trouble at the end of the 2012 season. Although the Quakes won the series, they were outhit 29-22, as well as out scored, 18-16. The Quakes did manage to pull off a natural home run cycle in a 14 inning marathon, also called game 1. Bobby Coyle started it off with a solo shot in the 2nd inning, while Noel Cuevas hit the two run in the 3rd. Pratt Maynard hit the 3 run in the 6th, followed by O'Koyea Dickson hitting the grand slam in the 14th, which would later prove to be the game winner.

Rancho's Batting

Center fielder/left fielder, Noel Cuevas went 5-12 with a home run. Right fielder, Scott Schebler went 4-14 with a double and 2 home runs. Left fielder/designated hitter, Bobby Coyle went 3-12 with 2 home runs. Designated hitter/first baseman, O'Koyea Dickson went 4-14 with a home run and the previously mentioned grand slam. Catcher, Pratt Maynard went 1-9 with a home run.

Stockton's Batting 

Shortstop, Addison Russell went 1-5 with a double. Designated hitter/right fielder, Josh Whitaker went 4-15 with 2 doubles. Third baseman, B.A. Vollmuth went 4-13 with 2 home runs. Second baseman, Antonio Lamas went 4-15 with a double and a triple. Left fielder/designated hitter, Rashun Dixon went 3-13 with a double. Center fielder, Bobby Crocker went 2-10 with a triple. Shortstop, Wade Kirkland went 1-7 with a double, as did designated hitter/left fielder, Dusty Robinson.

Quakes's Pitching

Relief pitcher, Joel Lima pitched 2 innings of game 1 and 1 inning of game 3, giving up just 1 hit in each game. Raydel Sanchez allowed 1 hit in 2.1 innings in game 1. Game 1 winner, Dan Coulombe went 2.1 innings while giving up 2 unearned runs on 1 hit. Blake Smith went .2 innings in game 1 giving up 1 hit as well as throwing a hitless inning in game 2. Starter, Carlos Frias earned the game 3 win after what was arguably his best start of the year. He allowed just 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings. 

Ports's Pitching

Seth Frankoff pitched 1.2 innings in relief while giving up 1 hit in game1. Tucker Healy gave up 1 hit in 2 innings pitched in game 1. Ryan Dull gave up 1 hit in 1 inning of work. Blake Hassebrock gave up 2 hits over 3 innings. Jonathan Joseph earned the game 1 loss after giving up 5 unearned runs on 2 hits over 1 inning, but he corrected himself in game 3, going 2 innings and not allowing a hit. Tanner Peters earned the game 2 win after pitching 6 shutout innings and allowing 4 hits. Omar Duran threw 2 hitless innings in game 2. 

Roster Moves

Pitcher, Carlos Marmol has been sent up to Double A Chattanooga. Taking his place on the roster, from AA, is pitcher, Jharel Cotton. 

Upcoming Games

The Quakes have a three game series (7/20-7/22) in Modesto before returning home to play the 66ers.
