Quakes Sweep the Blaze!

The Quakes and the Blaze faced off for the final time this year in a 3 game series at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga. The first and only time these two teams faced each other in Bakersfield, the 4 game series was split with each team winning two games. The first and only time they played in Rancho, this series, the Quakes swept the Blaze after scoring 14 runs and racking up 28 hits. The Blaze scored 8 runs on 19 hits. 

Bakersfield's Batting

Right fielder/ledt fielder/designated hitter, Juan Silva went 2-12 with a double. Second baseman, Juan Silverio went 2-11 with a home run. Shortstop, Juan Perez went 2-10 with a home run. Right fielder, Juan Duran went 3-7 with a home run. Third baseman, David Vidal went 4-9 with 3 doubles. 

Rancho's Batting 

Center fielder/left fielder, Noel Cuevas went 4-10 with a double and a home run. Right fielder, Scott Schebler went 2-8 with a home run. Left fielder, Bobby Coyle went 2-10 with a home run. Designated hitter/first baseman, Chris Jacobs went 1-7 with a home run. Second baseman/third baseman/center fielder, Casio Grider went 2-6 with a triple. Second baseman, James McDonald went 3-8 with a double and a triple. Catcher, Chris O'Brien went 3-9 in his Quakes return with a home run. Third baseman, Scott Wingo went 3-4 with 3 singles in his first game back with the Quakes.

Blake's Pitching

Relief pitcher, Carlos Gonzalez went 4 innings and allowed just 2 hits in game 1. Kyle Lotzkar threw a hitless inning in game 2, as did Pat Doyle. Jimmy Moran allowed 1 hit in 2 innings pitched in game 2. 

Quakes's Pitching

Game 1 starter, Carlos Frias went 6.2 strong innings while allowing 6 hits, but only 1 run. Joel Lima earned the game 1 win after going 1.1 innings and allowing 1 hit. Carlos Marmol earned the save after going an inning and allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Starter, Gustavo Gomez earned the game 2 win after going 7 innings and allowing 1 run on 4 hits. Marmol made his 3rd appearance in game 2, going 1 inning without allowing a hit. Jarret Martin earned the save after throwing a hitless inning. Lindsey Caughel earned the game 3 win after doing 7 strong innings and allowing just 1 hit. Dan Coulombe went an inning and allowed an unearned run on 1 hit. Matt Shelton earned the save after getting the final out of game 3.

Roster Moves

Third baseman, Bladimir Franco was sent to the AZL Dodgers to be converted to a pitcher. Catcher, Webster Rivas has been sent to the Great Lakes Loons so  that catcher, Chris O'Brien could be activated off of the disabled list. Scott Wingo has been sent back up to the Quakes from the AZL Dodgers.

Upcoming Games 

The Quakes will be taking a 6 game road trip up north to Stockton (7/17-7/19) and Modesto (7/20-7/22). They will return home on the 23rd.
