Giants Avoid the Sweep, but the Quakes Take the Series!

This past weekend, the Quakes played a four game series in San Jose, California. The Quakes took the series win after winning the first three games of the series. The Quakes bats were wide awake and in full swing as they out hit the Giants 34-21 and outscored them 21-10.

Rancho's Range (Not all players who played are mentioned. This is an impromptu "highlight" reel.)

Shortstop, Darnell Sweeney went 4-15 with a .267 batting average and a triple. First baseman/designated hitter, O'Koyea Dickson also went 4-15 with a double and two home runs. He currently leads the team with five long balls this season. First baseman/designated hitter, Angelo Songco went 5-15 with two doubles. Right fielder, Jon Garcia went 2-13 with his fourth home run of the year. Fellow outfielder, Scott Schebler, went 2-11 with his seventh triple of the season. Third baseman, Ryan Mount went 6-11 while batting .545 with two doubles. He went 3-3 in game one of the series. Utility infielder, Casio Grider went 4-11 while batting .364 in his return with a double and two triples.

San Jose's Strike

Left fielder/designated hitter, Shawn Payne went 2-16 with a double. Center fielder, Chris Lofton went 2-11 with a double. Third baseman, Ryan Cavan went 5-15 with a double. Right fielder, Mac Williamson went 4-13 with a batting average of .308. First baseman, Angel Villalona went 2-12 with a double and a home run. Left fielder/designated hitter, Devin Harris went 1-16 with a home run. Center fielder, Elliott Blair went 2-5 with a double in the one game he played in.

Rancho's Reliable Relief

Recently turned starter, James Campbell went 5 innings while giving up just on earned run on two hits. Relief pitcher Freddie Cabrera earned the win in that game after going one inning and allowing 2 hits. Throughout the series, he went a total of 2 innings, giving up those two hits mentioned earlier. Closer, Michael Thomas got the save in game one after going one inning without giving up a hit. Starter, Garrett Gould had one of his best outings of the season, going 6 innings while allowing just 3 hits, earning the win. Starter, Ross Stripling went 8 innings while allowing just one run on three hits. Relief pitcher, Owen Jones earned the save after going one inning while allowing just one hit. 

San Jose's Stars

Relief pitcher, Jeff Soptic went a total of 2.2 innings over two games pitched, while giving up no hits or runs. Cody Hall went three innings over two games and gave up just two hits. Josh Osich gave up one hit in one inning of work. Hunter Strickland received the save in the final game of the series after allowing just one hit in one inning of work. 

The Quakes return home to LoanMart Field for a short, three game home stand ( 5/7-5/9) against the Inland Empire 66ers, then go on the road again.
