Quakes Avoid Shutout as JetHawks win 10-2

The Quakes and the JetHawks played game 2 of a 3 game series last night at LoanMart Field in Rancho Cucamonga. Dodger's pitcher, Stephen Fife got the ball for the Quakes and Brady Rodgers started for the JetHawks. Fife got off to a good start, but eventually earned the loss after allowing 4 runs, 3 earned, on 6 hits in 4 innings. Rodgers earned the win after allowing just 2 hits in 5 innings pitched. I was reminded Monday of the Astro's Piggy-Back Pitching System, of which I was unsure of at first, but after seeing it in action, I certainly think it has potential. The system allows teams to have more starters and helps to prevent injury. The JetHawks have only used 5 pitchers this series, 3 in game 1 and 2 in game 2, while the Quakes have used 7, 4 in game 1 and 3 in game 2. But back to the topic at hand. Chris Devenski earned the save after allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings. 

The JetHawks started off the scoring fairly early, the 2nd inning to be exact. First baseman, Telvin Nash hit a double, followed by catcher, Tyler Heineman hitting a two run inside the park home run, the first inside the park HR I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in person. Third baseman, Rauol Torrez went 2-4 with a double. Center fielder, Andrew Aplin continued to impress as he went 2-4 with a triple and a great play or two out in center. Right fielder, Preston Tucker went 3-5 with a double and a home run. Designated hitter, Chris Epps went 2-4 with a double. 

The Quakes were held scoreless until the bottom of the 9th inning when O'Koyea Dickson doubled in Bobby Coyle and Chris Jacobs. That was Dickson's second double of the day. Noel Cuevas and Bobby Coyle also recorded doubles.

The Quakes and the JetHawks play one final game today before going their separate ways. Tonight is Bark in the Park at LoanMart Field. Game time is 7:05
