Quakes Escape Second 66er's Sweep

The Quakes came into this series with a record of 16-15 after a long road trip that took them to San Jose and Stockton. They didn't fair as well in this series as they did in San Jose, but the good thing is that they finished at .500 instead of below it. They won game one of the three game series, but dropped the following two to finish with a record of 17-17. The Inland Empire 66ers out hit the Quakes 34-30 and out scored them 22-21. All three games contained several extra base hits for both sides.

Inland Empire's Incredible Energy

Second baseman, Alex Yarbrough went 5-13 with a double and a triple. Third baseman, Brian Hernandez batted a solid .500 with a double and two home runs. First baseman, Michael Snyder went 2-12 with a double. Left fielder, Zachary Borenstein went 6-13 with a double and a home run. Right fielder, Andy Workman went 5-12 with 2 doubles. Catcher, Zach Wright went 2-8 with 2 home runs. Designated hitter, Ryan Jones went 1-8 with a home run.

Rancho's Resilient Bats

Infielder, Casio Grider continued his extra base hit hot streak with a triple in one of the two games he played in. Second baseman, Scott Wingo hit his first home run of the year in the final game of the series. Shortstop, Darnell Sweeney gave fans a rare treat by hitting for the cycle. He went 6-14 in the three games he played in with the required double, triple, and home run. Angelo Songco is the only other player in the Quakes/Dodgers era to conquer the same feat. Songco hit a triple in this series. Right fielder, Jon Garcia went 2-11 with a double. Left fielder, Scott Schebler continued his hot streak with a total of 3 doubles and a series average of .400. Third baseman, Ryan Mount also continued his hot streak by going 5-11, getting at least one hit each game. He hit a double, triple, and home run. Catcher, Chris O'Brien went 1-2, giving him a series average of .500 with a double.

Sixty Sixer's Savers

Relief pitcher, R.J. Alvarez went one inning in game 1 and did not allow a run or a hit, as did his fellow bullpen mate, Michael Johnson. Relief pitcher, Brandon Efferson earned the win in game 2 after going2 innings and allowing o runs on just 2 hits. Starting pitcher, Danny Reynolds earned the win in game 3 after going 7 innings while allowing 5 runs, only 2 of those earned, on 4 hits. Relief pitcher, Ty Kelley earned the save after pitching 2 innings of hit less baseball.

Rancho's Relief

Starting pitcher, Duke von Schamann earned the win in game 1 after going 6 innings and allowing two runs, both earned, on 5 hits. Relief pitcher, Raydel Sanchez earned the save after going 3 innings and allowing 1 run on 2 hits. Relief pitcher, Juan Noriega went 1.2 innings in game 2 and allowed just 3 hits. Relief pitcher, Eric Eadington threw 1.1 innings of no hit baseball in his return to Rancho. Relief pitcher, Dan Coulombe allowed 3 hits in 2 innings pitched.
Dodgers pitcher, Zack Grenkie is slated to make a rehab apperance when the Quakes begin their 4 game series in Lake Elsinore. As is pitcher Scott Elbert.
